Agreement, 1666, Nov. 17. 18 Charles II.

Agreement between the dean and chapter of the cathedral church of St. Peter, Exeter, with Henry Smith of Exeter, merchant, that the said dean and chapter will indemnify George Carye, D.D., dean of the said church, of a sum of £1000 borrowed for the use of the dean and chapter from James Rodd of Exeter, esquire, by the said George Carye, James Smith, D.D., chanter of St. Peter's, Robert Hall, D.D., Treasurer of St. Peter's, Francis Fulwood, D.D., John Bury, clerk, and John Snell, clerk, canons of St. Peter's, on a bond dated 9 May last; of which £1000, £800 has been lent to the king and £200 to Seth, bishop of Exeter, upon security.
